Description

EIZZ LP-303 Phono PRO

Valve MC/MM phono preamplifier with separate power supply

The EIZZ LP-303 Phono PRO is a reference phono preamplifier, developed to extract all the information contained in the groove without losing the naturalness, body and texture that distinguish good analogue reproduction.

Its architecture combines Class A valve amplification, passive RIAA equalisation, step-up transformers for MC cartridges and a completely independent power supply. The result is a clean, stable and silent signal, capable of working with both MM cartridges and very low-output MC models.

Two-chassis architecture

The LP-303 consists of two separate units: the phono preamplifier and its power supply.

This setup keeps the transformer and power supply circuits away from the delicate signal coming from the capsule, reducing interference, electromagnetic noise and potential signal contamination.

Both chassis are CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminium alloy and finished in an elegant matt silver. With a total weight of 19.5 kg, their construction conveys the solidity and precision characteristic of a high-end component built to last.

Telefunken valve amplification

The audio section uses two selected TELEFUNKEN EF800 and two TELEFUNKEN ECL200 valves.

The circuit operates in Class A, with an open-loop topology and without global negative feedback. This philosophy makes it possible to preserve the micro-information, dynamics and harmonic richness of the recording, offering a fluid, spacious and fatigue-free reproduction.

The LP-303 presents vocals with a remarkable sense of presence, maintains the natural body of the instruments, and builds a stable and well-organised soundstage.

Amorphous core distribution transformers

For moving-coil cartridges, the LP-303 incorporates amorphous-core step-up transformers manufactured in Germany and wound with pure Swiss silver wire.

The user can select two load levels for the MC transformer, of 5 or 20 ohms, as well as two gain levels:

  • Low MC gain: 64 dB.
  • High MC gain: 70 dB.
  • MM gain: 44 dB.

This flexibility allows working with a wide variety of cartridges, from conventional output MM models to extremely low output MC cartridges.

Audiophile-grade components

The signal path incorporates carefully selected DUELUND, JENSEN and NICHICON capacitors.

Custom-made, non-inductive carbon film resistors and precision silver mica capacitors are also used in the RIAA network.

The interior maintains a clear and orderly layout, with sufficient space for future upgrades using even higher-grade components.

Precise adjustment for each capsule

One of the main virtues of the EIZZ LP-303 is its adaptability. The user can select different impedance and capacitance values to achieve a correct relationship between the cartridge, the wiring and the preamplifier.

Available settings

  • MM impedance: open, 100 kΩ, 47 kΩ and 20 kΩ.
  • MC impedance: 30, 62, 100, 180, 220, 330, 470 and 680 Ω; 1.2 kΩ and open.
  • Capacitance: 100, 220, 330, 470, 680 and 1,000 pF.
  • MC transformer load: 5 or 20 Ω.
  • MM gain: 44 dB.
  • MC gain: 64 or 70 dB.

All main settings and functions can be controlled using the included remote control.

RCA and XLR connections

The LP-303 offers one MC input via balanced XLR connection and another MC input via unbalanced RCA connection.

RCA and XLR outputs are available simultaneously, facilitating their integration with different preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers and High-End systems.

Regulated power supply

The independent power supply delivers a regulated DC voltage of +280 V, developed specifically for valve audio circuits.

Use an LT1021 voltage reference, a high-gain differential amplifier and fast-response MOSFETs. This architecture provides a ripple rejection of over 100 dB and a stated noise level of approximately 10 µV.

It also incorporates current limiting, turn-on delay, rectification using ONSEMI Schottky diodes, common-mode filtering, and constant-current regulated filament power supply.

A phono stage to enjoy and preserve

The EIZZ LP-303 Phono PRO brings together a classic valve architecture, carefully selected components and unusual adjustment possibilities.

It does not seek to modify the character of the recording, but rather to allow the music to emerge naturally: full-bodied and controlled bass, believable vocals, instruments rich in nuance, and a wide, deep and stable soundstage.

It is a phono stage especially suited for high-end analogue systems and for enthusiasts who wish to preserve the essence of their records without sacrificing the silence, precision and flexibility of a modern design.
