The Cayin CS-300A valve amplifier is a rarity for special connoisseurs. It is based on the sonically unmatched 300B output valves. The two directly heated triodes are fed in a single-ended configuration by a 6SL7 voltage gain stage followed by a 6SN7 driver stage.
Two GZ34 valves are responsible for high-voltage rectification via separate channels. This arrangement ensures a musically fluid sound with excellent detail resolution. With the CS-300A, Cayin has created a particularly musical integrated amplifier that, despite the purist single-ended circuit, achieves eight watts RMS per channel, helping high-efficiency speakers to produce a sound that is enormously harmonious, lively, full-bodied and expressive.
The pre-in input offers the possibility of using the Cayin CS-300A as a pure power amplifier. Multiple 4, 8 and 16 ohm taps allow optimum matching of the loudspeakers used. An output transformer specially developed for this single-ended amplifier with separate winding taps for the headphone output makes the CS-300A compatible with high-quality headphones.
The user has a built-in measuring instrument for precise bias adjustment of the 300B valves. There is also a two-stage switch on the solid aluminium front panel for individual adjustment of the negative feedback. In the «0 dB» position, the sound is smooth and open, with plenty of detail, whilst at «-3 dB» the reproduction is clear and crisp.
The Cayin CS-300A is hand-built using the finest point-to-point wiring. A soft-start circuit to protect the amplifier ensures a longer lifespan for the valves and sensitive components. Furthermore, Cayin uses high-voltage fuses to protect the remaining components in the event of valve failure. All functions can be controlled with the included easy-to-grip metal remote control.

CAYIN 300 A AUDITION

After a long time waiting to enjoy the fame of the legendary 300B triodes, sustained by the timeless aura they hold among the most purist audiophiles, I have finally decided to purchase a unit of the Cayin 300 A amplifier from Lyric Audio (thanks Francisco for your kindness and diligence in ensuring I received it before 6th January) and these are my impressions of it.
Continuing with my impressions of the Cayin 300A amplifier
and its properties, the following can be mentioned:
a) Aesthetics and finish - With an austere and classic appearance close to “vintage”, it impresses with its overwhelming robustness, as confirmed by its weight of over 25 kg, which dispels any false prejudices established about “Made in China” products. The three impressive transformers placed in a line justify this and even prevent us from having any temptation to open the device, as one can easily guess a meticulous construction close to the artisanal, as corroborated by the point-to-point wiring with silver solder proclaimed by the manufacturer. On the other hand, the simple removal of the protection grille reveals an impeccable layout of the valve set and the bias meter for adjusting them.
The front is simple with two controls, one for volume and another as a three-input source selector, another to use the unit as a power amplifier, and two negative feedback adjustment options that provide two different timbres to choose from according to particular tastes. In addition, as a bonus, there is a headphone output
On the rear panel there are also three types of options for connecting speakers of different nominal impedances, which gives it great versatility.

) Technical aspects – This is not a device that “wins you over” through a cold analysis of its figures, as is the case with solid-state designs, but rather through its musicality; indeed, even the total harmonic distortion of the 1% becomes a mere footnote given the benefits it brings to the final sound.
Perhaps the most peculiar aspect on a first reading is its low output power of 8 watts per channel, but this is easily remedied by choosing high-sensitivity speakers (as is well known, a 3 dB difference in this regard halves the power requirements)
In our case we paired them with some Klipsch Forte III speakers (99dB sensitivity) and the synergy in this regard is total to such an extent that the volume potentiometer for comfortable listening ranges between the 8 and 9 o'clock position

Sound - Here come the positive surprises. The experience, right from a first listen, is dazzling and adjectives are exhausted. Its smoothness and warmth follow the path started by the KT-88s and continued by the EL-34s to such an extent that we can say “we have reached the end”. It is the absolute benchmark of valve sound. There is NOTHING beyond it.
Just a simple listen to Lyric Audio's complimentary record “Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely”, a masterpiece in its own right, elevates your listening experience to the sublime, with the master's voice warmer than ever, making you even more aware of the perfection of his swing in the listening room, completely enveloping you and revealing nuances you have never heard before.
And what about listening to another Ray Charles “classic”, “Modern Sounds in Country And Western Music”, his voice moves you to tears
In short, a gem at a very affordable price that any audiophile should own as an option to compare with transistor amplifiers and prove that the past wasn't always worse.
P.S.: It would be interesting to test their synergy for classical music enthusiasts with high-performance speakers that are less “upfront” (like Klipsch due to their horns) or like full-range speakers (Lyritech's Magic 10).
