Four Tung-Sol KT150 or, optionally, four KT170 valves are used as high-performance power amplifier valves. Voltage rectification is performed by an RCA 22DE4 NOS valve.
Three switches allow you to tune the sound to your individual taste or adapt it to your speakers. This includes switching between triode and ultralinear operation. This lets you choose between delicate, detailed harmonics and smooth, holographic reproduction, which is ideal for vocals and stringed instruments. Or you can increase the performance and dynamics with controlled bass reproduction in ultralinear operation. The output power is a considerable sine wave of 2 x 55 watts in triode mode, rising to a remarkable 2 x 100 watts in ultralinear mode. This is extreme output power for a pure valve amplifier.
It is not just about individualisation. The CS-150A also features variable bias (high/standard): rounded mids and lows characterise the “high bias” position, whereas the precise musical structure characterises the “standard” position.
Adjustment options are not yet exhausted: you can even choose negative feedback in two stages. This allows for smooth and natural reproduction in the «Low» position or tight and controlled reproduction in the «High» position.
Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs ensure maximum connectivity.
The broadband output transformers were wound specifically for the requirements of the CS-150A and selected in pairs. A powerful toroidal transformer guarantees a stable power supply, reduced output resistance and optimum performance.
The Cayin CS-150A also features meticulous point-to-point wiring using high-quality silver-coated, shielded cables.
The input selection memory function turns out to be an additional advantage. After switching on, the last selected input is automatically activated. A soft-start circuit ensures optimum protection for the valves used. The high-quality metal remote control provides access to the numerous functions of the Cayin CS-150A.
