Description

The Response D2 has already been in production for 15 years with the dome tweeter and is now considered a highly respected model. We now have the option to offer this model with a ribbon tweeter as we do with some of our other models. The ribbon tweeter is the same tweeter used in our floor-standing models and offers a refreshing alternative for those looking for a high-quality stand-mounted design. We are renowned for producing high-end compact loudspeakers, as demonstrated by the Tablette and Response 1SC loudspeakers, which have become iconic over the years.
The Response D2 is a loudspeaker in this fine tradition, designed for the highest quality music and delivering true monitor performance. The sound quality of the Response D2 and Response D2R is of extreme transparency; a pure and powerful bass response with a detailed high frequency.
Whether you choose the dome or ribbon version of the Response D2, we are sure you will be amazed by the extreme transparency, pure, powerful bass and precise imaging this model delivers.

Very pleased with the purchase. Definition and presence. Good bass extension and very pleasant vocal presentation. I had my reservations about the ribbon tweeter due to comments about how critical placement is to get the best out of it. No problem in a small room (dedicated, more or less). They need running in (obviously). A product I recommend without reservation. Pair them with good electronics and enjoy.

I regret not having discovered the ProAc sound sooner. After a few days of thinking it over and weighing up the ribbon tweeter – which was what I was really considering – and asking Francisco for his opinion, I had no doubt: if he told me it was fabulous, then it simply would be. That’s right – it’s a very well-rounded tweeter and not at all fussy, as people say; it’s the ultimate bookshelf speaker. My living room is about 18 m² and I’ve got them paired with a T+A amp delivering 140+140W, and it’s a real treat, but if I switch to the valve amp, the ProAcs will move you to tears – the 100% is a recommended buy for anyone already well on their way down the path of bookshelf speakers; I’d even go so far as to compare them and say they’re better than my Dynaudio Contour. Best wishes and enjoy the music. Thanks for your advice, Francisco. See you next time.

After a while looking at reviews and opinions of the ProAc D2/R, I decided to call Lyric Audio, given their good reputation on the audio forums. Francisco advised me on the purchase, and I am very grateful for his professionalism.
The speakers are very good, a very natural sound. I bought them with the ribbon tweeter, marvellous, it gives so many details that I hadn't heard before in my CDs, without any fatigue at all, none. They have good bass, they go very low, they are a delight
Just holding them in your hands is a pleasure in itself – though I should warn you that you need to be careful where you place them. I recommend them 100 per cent. I also bought the jumpers that Francisco put together for me – they’re brilliant – hours and hours of listening with my Rotel 2040. .
thanks to Lyric Audio for their excellent service

Comment regarding the ProAc Response D2R.
I was at the Valladolid shop to collect them. Daniel looked after us perfectly. It is a shame we didn't have time to extend the listening session with different systems. However, we were able to listen to a Cayin integrated amplifier with some LyricTech speakers that sounded fabulous. Francisco looked after me brilliantly over the phone, putting together a very attractive offer.
Regarding the PROACs, they are still running in. However, I can already say that they are well worth it. Every day they are improving themselves. The ribbon tweeter is wonderful. My system is a Naim Uniti Star, a Rega Planar 3 with a separate power supply and a HEED phono stage.
Thank you very much for everything.

I have two pairs replacing some three-way B&W Nautilus 804s and some floor-standing Tannoy Tbs. These «little ones» surpass them in every way,
The magazine What Hi-Fi said of them that they would dominate their era for years.
One of the pairs uses digital and is amplified with a 150 W per channel Hegel, and as a source a Mohican CD player which present an informative, big and «analogue» sound.
The other pair are paired with a turntable featuring a Hana Umami Red cartridge, amplified with 50 watts per channel using EL34 valves. On this system, during Víkingur Ólafsson's Goldberg Variations, you can distinguish both hands on the piano without even having to concentrate. I've never seen such resolution. The high notes are airy and crystal clear, with rich mids and full, punchy bass. Music emerges even from behind the speakers and floods the entire room.
And I could go on with any other album, Kissin live or Vanessa Fernández vinyl.
I want to say that these boxes will measure up to any system you end up adding.
It was an absolute success for my medium-small living room.
I recommend them, I'm very pleased

I still can't believe it, as soon as I put them on it was the sound I'd been hoping for for a long time. What can I say about Daniel's customer service, which was excellent. Everything was incredible. I was worried the treble would be shrill, but it isn't, they sound smooth just as I expected.

A great purchase! Highly recommended!
After completing the necessary running-in period (they have improved day by day), I love their sound with all kinds of music, but especially with vocal tracks, and they are very, very special with classical music (I suppose the ribbon tweeter plays a decisive role in the result). Furthermore, the bass is also very good.
What I appreciate most, compared to other lower-tier monitors that I own, is that the music is projected forward as a whole, without the usual and accentuated differentiation between high and mid/low sounds. They are very detailed, but without the high notes causing fatigue or tiredness: “balanced” and “musical” are the words I would use to define them. The truth is I can spend hours listening to music.
Many thanks to Francisco for his attention and advice and to the whole Lyric Audio team for their commitment to providing the best offer and service.
Greetings.

I was slow to decide because I was afraid the ProAc Response D2R speakers wouldn't be very different from my vintage JBL L86s. They certainly are, the change has been well worth it, more air between the instruments and more detail without ever sounding harsh. Satisfied with the purchase. Thanks Daniel for your help.
