Description
The 404 integrated amplifier
Moonriver Model 404 is the result of 3 years of research, with the aim of achieving incredible performance regardless of the price range. The 404 amplifier will extract hidden elements and render textures from any audio format, with the source, speakers and space setting the limits. Its culture will adapt to all music, as the Model 404 is designed to define the weakest nuances that make up tone integrity.
A substantial supply section ensures that a large amount of energy is available at all times across all stages via separate rails. A completely discrete preamplifier section serves acute dynamic awareness, while a high output stage that is custom-optimised for bandwidth and distortion guarantees a neutral bias and transient fidelity. Painstaking component selection shields the design against tonal alteration, pretentious or otherwise, thereby preserving naturalness over the shortest possible path.
Additionally, an integrated phono stage, a USB DAC, two preamplifier outputs and a tape monitor loop expand the functionality to form an ideally flexible integrated amplifier.

I recently got my hands on a Moonriver 404, and let me tell you, it was love at first sight… or rather, at first listen. To be honest, I bought it on a whim driven by nostalgia. When I saw it, with that retro look it has, I felt like I'd found a lost treasure from another era. You don't see a design like that every day, and I, for one, like it and find it seductive.
The ultimate test came in Valladolid. There, I dedicated myself to listening to him with the utmost attention. And boy did he pass the test with flying colours. It is as if design and sound go hand in hand; that vintage look foreshadowed a sound that is just what I like: warm, detailed, with a captivating clarity and a balance that makes every listen a total pleasure.
I recommend it without reservation. If you like a design that makes heads turn and a sound that makes you close your eyes and simply enjoy, the Moonriver 404 is your thing. It's more than an amp; it's a complete experience, a bridge between the classic and the latest in audio, and honestly, a gem for those of us who know how to appreciate these things.
