Description

The IRIS represents our entry-level digital-to-digital USB converter. DENAFRIPS dedicated a substantial period of 3 years to perfecting its development, drawing upon the advancements of our acclaimed DAC.

These advancements encompass DENAFRIPS' exclusive FPGA DSP processing, FIFO buffer and reclocking technologies, and an exceptional USB audio interface solution via the advanced STM32F466 AMR-based MCU.

To celebrate 12 years of exceptional digital audio experience from DENAFRIPS, the 12th Anniversary Edition of the Iris incorporates the highly sought-after sound quality of the original Iris alongside performance enhancements.

A DDC, which stands for Digital-to-Digital Converter, functions as a device that transforms a digital audio signal from one format or interface into another within the digital domain. Its primary purpose is to facilitate harmony between different audio systems, especially when interacting with various digital interfaces.

The Denafrips digital-to-digital converter (DDC) is a meticulously designed device intended to accept a digital audio signal via a specific digital connection, for example, USB, and subsequently convert it into alternative digital audio outputs. This conversion process not only improves audio quality, but also involves the application of advanced processing techniques.

The Denafrips DDC uses a FIFO buffer to store and manage the incoming digital signal. This buffering process is optimised and re-clocked by a high-quality internal femto clock, which ensures precise timing. Furthermore, the DDC incorporates galvanic isolation, protecting the signal from electrical interference and maintaining its integrity throughout the conversion process.

Denafrips has earned a reputation for producing DDCs with exceptional audio performance, thanks to the integration of cutting-edge technologies to ensure precision during signal conversion, preserving the authenticity of the audio data with enhancements. These DDCs are a crucial link for connecting different digital audio setups, fostering compatibility between various audio components that may employ different digital interfaces or have different sample rates.

A combination of 8 sets of precision linear power regulators with ultra-low noise characteristics, coupled with an oversized 60 VA UPOCC copper O-core transformer, efficiently provides clean power to the digital circuitry.

The incoming USB digital signal data stream is subjected to a FIFO buffer and subsequently resynchronised using the FEMTO crystal oscillator. This meticulous procedure significantly minimises jitter, ensuring that the resulting digital output signal is unaffected by detrimental jitter noise.
