Galvanic isolator and USB 2.0 purifier

El LHY Audio UIP-Lite it has been designed to improve the USB connection between a computer or streamer and a digital-to-analogue converter. Its role is simple, yet fundamental: to prevent electrical noise, power supply interference and ground loops from the digital source from reaching the DAC.

Although the USB transmission is digital, the signal travels accompanied by electrical power and ground. These lines can carry noise generated by switched-mode power supplies, processors, hard drives and other computer components. The UIP-Lite creates a real galvanic isolation between the source and the audio system, providing the DAC with a cleaner and more stable USB connection.

High-speed USB isolation

Inside, it uses the advanced isolation chip Analog Devices ADuM3165, capable of maintaining a transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps. This allows you to work with high-resolution music, including signals of up to 768 kHz PCM and DSD512, without limiting the capabilities of the connected DAC.

The UIP-Lite does not convert the signal or modify the audio format. It operates transparently: it receives the signal via USB, electrically isolates it, and delivers it again via USB to the converter.

Ultra-low noise linear power supply

One of its most important features is its internal power supply. Regulation via LT3042 and PNP transistor provides an extremely quiet power supply, with a stated noise level of less than 1 μV at rest.

The USB port provides up to 5 V/3 A, enabling a stable power supply to DACs, interfaces or USB devices that require power from the port itself. A second stabilisation stage helps to maintain a constant voltage even when the demand increases.

Elimination of ground loops

The UIP-Lite features a selector switch Ground Lift, which allows the ground to be connected or completely isolated. This function is particularly useful when there is humming, noise or interference caused by potential differences between the various pieces of equipment in the system.

A three-digit LED display allows you to check the USB output voltage at any time.

What can it add to the sound?

By reducing the electrical noise reaching the DAC, the UIP-Lite can help to achieve:

• A quieter background.
• Greater clarity and separation between instruments.
• Better definition of the finer details.
• A more organised and stable soundscape.
• Reduced stress or fatigue in digital systems.
• Elimination of any humming noises caused by ground loops.

The result will depend on the computer, streamer, DAC and the level of noise present in each setup, but the improvement can be particularly noticeable when using a standard computer as a music source.

Easy connection

No special software or settings are required to install it:

1. Connect the USB output of the computer or streamer to the USB-B input of the UIP-Lite.
2. Connect the USB-A output on the UIP-Lite to the USB input on the DAC.
3. Turn on the UIP-Lite and select the quietest ground position.

The computer or streamer will continue to recognise the DAC directly. The UIP-Lite remains in the middle of the connection, isolating and conditioning the signal.
