Classification: Moderate power, filamentary triodes for Class-A service.

Application: Audio frequency amplifier in positions where power outputs of approximately ten watts or less at relatively low plate voltages are required.

Dimensions: The dimensions, general tube and base diagrams, and the arrangement of electrode connections to base terminals are shown in Figures 1 and 2.

Socket and mounting: These vacuum tubes use medium-sized four-pin push-fit sockets suitable for use in Western Electric 143B sockets or similar. The 300B tube has its bayonet pin positioned so that it can also be fitted into a Western Electric 100M, 115B or similar socket.

The tubes can be mounted in a vertical or horizontal position. If mounted horizontally, the filament plane, as indicated in figure 2, must be vertical.

Average direct capacitances between electrodes:

• Grid to plate 15 µµF.
• Grid to filament 9 µµF.
• 4.3 µµF filament plate.

Filament rating: Filament voltage 5.0 volts, AC or DC

Rated filament current: 1.2 amperes

The filaments in these tubes are designed to operate as a function of voltage and should be operated as close as possible to the rated voltage. When alternating current is used to heat the filament, the grid and plate returns must be connected to a centre tap on the secondary winding of the filament transformer.
