Description
Following a year of research and development, the D48 is now ready for production.
The areas for improvement have been the midrange details and a cleaner, faster, and more extended bass response. A new studio monitor quality bass driver has been designed for the D48. It features a special impregnated cone and the midrange frequencies are tuned by an oversized dust cap. This gives the new unit greater midrange detail coupled with excellent bass control that delivers a tighter, more extended response. The two new bass drivers are each loaded via our special floor-loading with side vents, this makes the speaker easier to position and less reactive to the environment. The two bass units blend seamlessly with our ribbon or dome tweeter, depending on your preference. With such a large and slender floor-standing design, the soundstage is superb, being very large and with precise imaging.
The D48 features a high-quality filter network designed by Stewart Tyler, consisting of the finest components and ProAc cable on a special circuit board. The crossover is also split for bi-amping and bi-wiring. This is one of ProAc's finest designs and should delight all audiophiles, regardless of their musical taste.

If there is one thing I will always thank my parents for, who passed away recently, it is the love of music they passed on to me.
Always with good quality equipment, the last one a NAD amplifier that I recommended to them 30 years ago.
As they left their modest flat as an inheritance to be shared among 7 siblings, I made the decision to treat myself to some good speakers as a tribute.
To this end, I studied the offers on the various high-end appliance websites.
When I arrived at the Lyric Audio website, I remembered the numerous videos I had seen made by this shop that I had liked.
And my surprise was even greater when I discovered the discounts on the price they were advertising on the website.
So I called them straight away to have an initial chat.
I was asked about the equipment I owned, the size and shape of the listening room, the type of music I listened to most, anyway, my impression was that I was talking to professionals, as the last thing they asked me was how much money I could spend.
After all this, I decided to go to Valladolid… from Zaragoza, to listen in situ to the speakers they have in their catalogue.
I spent a pleasant afternoon with Francisco and Daniel, tried out all the loudspeakers I wanted and finally decided on the ProAc D48R.
I already have them at home and after a week of putting them through their paces without mercy on time and volume, I can assure you they have received my stamp of satisfaction and pride in my purchase.
They do, mind you, require a listening room of at least 18 square metres (mine is 24), as they have generous, albeit well-adjusted, bass.
And as for the trebles and the mids, it is better not to speak of them, as my words could not do justice to the quality, definition and purity they convey.
All of that, combined with the beauty in the design and the robustness you feel when handling them, means I am more than happy, and for now, I haven't stopped re-listening to my favourite tracks.
It is true that not everyone can afford the money they cost.
But if you can afford them, you'll enjoy them to the point of exhaustion, I promise you.
A 10 out of 10 for the ProAc speakers and another 10 for Lyric Audio: since this purchase, my go-to shop.
I only ask that you continue doing your weekly educational work with the videos on your YouTube channel, which I have been subscribed to for years. It is work that I greatly value, as they have served as a cultural source for me in the world of High-End audio.
